Donald J. Cram, Haldane Rodger Cram, and Ralph Adams Cram were related; they descended from a Peter Cram who emigrated in 1820 with family from Comrie, Scotland to become farmers in the vicinity of what is now Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada.
The Cram surname may have derived from van Kram, a German surname. Another spelling is von Kromme. Family legend has it that three von Kromme brothers, related to royalty, came over from Germany.
